Voter enrollment camps to be set up after LS poll announcement

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will set up camps across the country for enrolling voters, after the announcement of Lok Sabha elections.
Deputy Election Commissioner, Alok Shukla also said that enlisted voters could get any error rectified at the camps.  Shukla was reviewing arrangements for the elections at a meeting with District Election Officers (DEOs) of Haryana at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh on Sunday.  To ensure more voter turnout, Shukla asked DEOs to set up facilities like drinking water, ramp and toilets at polling stations and directed the setting up of video-recording and web-casting facilities at sensitive polling stations.
Officers were told to coordinate with the media and ensure timely dissemination of information so that all voters could remain updated with instructions and directions of the ECI.  Speaking on the occasion, Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Shrikant Walgad said that model polling stations would be set up in every block.  A cycle rally would be organised by the State Election Commission on March 1, 2014 to create awareness about voting.  Also, oath for casting vote would be administered to all women at Aanganwadi centres on the occasion of Women's Day on 8th March.  Besides, 172 campus ambassadors have been appointed in educational institutes for inspiring the youth to cast their vote.  He said that a state level meeting of representatives of various political parties would be organised on 26th February where they would be made familiar with the guidelines of the ECI regarding the code of conduct, paid news and poll expenditure.
